About the meetup: Man's pursuit of Truth takes him in various directions. In this discussion, we will explore Science, Religion and Philosophy as various ways to pursue the Truth.

Questions that would be discussed include.

  • What is Science and what is not Science?
  • What are the similarities and differences between Science, Religion and Philosophy?
  • What does a man want?
  • What is the purpose of life?
  • What is good and what is bad?
  • Is there an absolute standard of morality?
  • Is there a secular basis of morality?
  • What is the purpose of religion?
  • Can one be spiritual but not religious?
  • Are humans special among living beings?
  • Which is more important to culture - Science or Arts?
  • What is development?, Who am I?, Does God exist? and much more.

About the speaker: Gokulmuthu Narayanaswamy has been seeking answers to fundamental questions through the study of Science, Religion and Philosophy. He is a student of Vedanta under the traditions of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda and Shankara. He is an alumnus of IIT Madras and IISc Bangalore. He was instrumental in starting Vivekananda Study Circles in both the institutions. He talks to children, youth and professionals on Life Skills, Vivekananda, Bhagavad Gita, etc. He is a volunteer at Ramakrishna Math, Ulsoor, Bangalore. He has written several articles, some of which have been published.
