ICB is happy to give a very warm welcome to Sage, who comes to Bangalore all the way from Canada with two fantastic workshops for both beginners and experienced performers, alike.

About Sage:
Sage Tyrtle has been improvising in Toronto since 2010, working with "Plundercats", "Robbing Turtles", and "America's Next Top ___". She's performed in the Chicago Musical Improv Festival and the Big City Improv Festival. When it comes to storytelling, Sage is a professional storyteller, telling stories all over the world. She teaches The Art of Storytelling, and her stories have been featured on NPR and CBC radio.

The Storytelling Workshop:

We've all had that moment where you're telling a story, and you suddenly realize that everyone around you is just waiting for you to stop talking.

The almost imperceptible glazing over of their eyes. The slight shifting as they wonder if it's really that rude to check their phones. The blush crawling up your cheeks as you stumble over your words, trying to wrap things up as quickly as possible.

There's no worse feeling than realizing that people have tuned you out, especially when you're trying to talk about something you really care about and nothing better than when you look around a room and realize that people are hanging on your every word.

That's what this workshop is all about: learning how to tell stories that matter in a way that absolutely captivates your audience.

The Armando Workshop:

Why work with just a word as a suggestion? A true story can lead to some of the best improvs ever seen. Professional storyteller Sage Tyrtle works with you to tease out the suggestions from true stories.

About ICB:

Improv Comedy Bangalore or ICB is a professional company performing and coaching in the art of Improvisation. We love Improv for all that it has taught us not just as performers but as individuals in an increasingly tense world. And we aim to bring that same beautiful potential of Improv to as many individuals as possible including children, teachers, corporates, other performing artists etc. We are the only Improv team from India to have performed at the prestigious Second City stage in Chicago in 2017. We are family to India's first ever all-women Improv troupe 'The Adamant Eves'. We also brought India's first Improv festival to Bengaluru in November 2018.

It all started in April this year, when I first saw ICB perform at their show Mashprov. I was introduced to a new form of theatre and art form which I vaguely remembered from having seen a single episode of Whose Line is it Anyway. But this, this was real. There was Abhishek, the brilliant host (the best one in ICB) who did an amazing job in explaining this art form and the many acts of the show captivating us in the process. Lavanya, who just amazed me with her expressive acting and improv skills. Balasree, whose sarcasm and perfect timing added to the charm. Sneha, who just owned the game “New Choice” with her absurd, funny and interesting choices. Then there was Akhil, who just took it to the next level by playing some grumpy politician in a gameshow. I’ve never laughed so much before.
So began my love for ICB, and my love for improv. I had immense respect and admiration for every single person in ICB after seeing them perform. Over time, I met the other amazing artists of the group. Vaishnavi, who could slay you on stage without a sweat if needed. Aarti, who could get into any character with her own fun style (Loved the one where she and Nasir played grumpy parents with

Lavanya and Sahil as the kids in a game of “Story Story Die”).

But these were just the tip of the iceberg. Just when I thought this couldn’t get any better, I was introduced to two of the senior members of ICB, Rohit and Nasir.
The show was Improv Mayhem, also featuring an amazing Improv artist from japan, Christiane Brew. Although every single one of them performed really well, you could clearly see the magic that Rohit and Nasir had together when they performed. And that’s the show I became a big fan of Rohit.

Then came ICB’s next amazing ensemble, The Adamant Eve’s. The all-women improv group, featuring another great senior improviser from ICB, Madhu. She’s a true actor, you can see it in the way she expresses herself. This show really upped ICB’s game a notch and they even added a musical element to it. I had tears of laughter during the show. Too much fun. The girls were amazing!

And finally, the latest show by ICB, “Improvised Tales with ICB”. Something new, something wonderful. The show was hilarious. Rohit was may favourite, again. Balasree, killed it with her amazing keyboard and musical skills. The musical element for this show was exceptional. The tales like taking a boring “fairy tale” suggestion from the audience and giving it a “desi twist” was brilliance and just hysterical. And as usual, these guys up their level every single time. I measure their shows by how much I cry laughing during their show, and this show, I cried the most.

I've been to all of ICB's shows since I came to know about. I enjoyed their shows then, and I continue to love and admire their work even now.

Can’t wait for the next one!
