Date: Friday, Nov 15, 2019

Time: 5:30 pm-7 pm

Venue: Juhu Beach, Mumbai

Host: Shaunak Modi

Age group: 15 years and above

Assembly & Time:

All participants must assemble outside Granth Book Store at 5:15 PM. The walk will commence at 5:30 PM sharp after a brief introduction. If by chance you're delayed, please contact our resource people for directions.

Join us for a walk that will introduce you to a side of Mumbai that you've probably never seen before. On one of Mumbai's most crowded beaches is a rocky shore full of hidden gems, revealed only for a few hours. A walk at Juhu Beach yields many surprises, including anemones, brittle stars, snails, sponges, and even the occasional starfish.

Safety & Precautions:

1. All participants must be over 15 years old.
2. We will be walking in an area with sharp rocks. Wear protective shoes/sandals only. Monsoon footwear is a good choice. Slippers or flip-flops are strictly prohibited.
3. No handling of any animal is allowed as some species found on our shores can be very harmful and even fatal to humans.
4. Shore walks are always at the mercy of the weather. Kindly bear with us if this leads us to reschedule the event.
5. Please carry a cap and wear adequate clothing.
6. Carry water to keep yourself hydrated.

About Echoes of Earth:

Echoes of Earth continues to be India's greenest music festival. Nestled among lush greenery, the festival presents a stellar line-up featuring over 40 International and Indian musicians performing on four uniquely designed stages, celebrating one Earth. This is a festival that assembles people from all walks of life and unites them with a celebration of great music, art and culture, while upholding the leave no trace policy, entailing a deep commitment to the sustenance and preservation of the Earth.

As part of our theme "The Sanctuary", Echoes aims to create awareness about the endangered species through a series of workshops, panel discussions, and campus activations. These workshops will be conducted to raise sensitivity towards the environment and our ecosystems while bringing people close to nature and encouraging them to find connections with their own city's natural heritage.

About Shaunak Modi:

Shaunak Modi is part of Marine Life of Mumbai, the flagship project of Coastal Conservation Foundation. His interest lies in intertidal ecology, citizen science, and wildlife photography. As a part of Marine Life of Mumbai, Shaunak strives to present to the people of Mumbai the fascinating array of marine life right on the big city's shores. His work spreads awareness and consciousness about what we stand to lose if these seaside spaces, in many ways the lifeline of the city's existence through the ages, continue to be ignored in the face of the city's bigger ideas.
