Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve - Tadoba National Park Safari!
Tadoba national park is said to be the jewel of Vidarbha. It's is one of India's 50 Project tiger reserves. Todoba tiger reserve lies in Chandrapur district of
Maharashtra state. Its more prominently know as oldest and largest national park of Maharashtra. Total area of the reserve including surrounding forest is 1728km 2 . This area now approximately shelters more than 100 tigers. Tadoba lake and Irai water reservoir is main water source and also offers good habitat for Muggar crocodiles. There are other wetlands like Kolsa lake and Andhari river. Teak wood is predominantly found in the forest. Tadoba National Park has endless
treasure trove of large number of species of trees and plants and wildlife like panthers, tigers, hyenas, sloth bears, wild dogs, jackals, barking deer, bison, sambar, herd of deer to name a few.

History of Tadoba National Park - Tadoba or Taru was the god's name of tribal people who reside in the Tadoba forest. It is believed that Taru was a chief of village, who was killed in a legendary encounter with a tiger. After this, a shrine was made dedicated to the God Taru. Shrine exists under a huge tree and on the bank of the Tadoba Lake. Likewise, ‘Andhari’ name was given due to Andhari River that wanders through the forest.

Really loved this trek.. while going in , the uphill task is a little daunting.

The woods are real thick at some places and ambiance is quite refreshing.

The climb is difficult at some places as there are not well constructed steps.

However, some parts up the fort are steep and takes a challenging climb.

The paths are streams of either bogs or mossy rocks -- each having their own fun hazards.

But that is what keeps the trek natural and exciting.

There are pretty white crabs in the stream-paths -- very interesting.

The trip to top was awesome.

The strong breeze blowing at the top quickly dries off the sweat from the climb too.

This was the week of onslaught of the monsoon, so it was amazing warm monsoon rain and as we got closer there was also mist and fog.

It was green and wet all over.

The view of the surrounding countryside from the top is simply breathtaking. Well worth the climb up.

The fort is in ruins and makes a beautiful place for pictures..

The greenery just added to the awesomeness. the view from top is gorgeous..

There is nothing much to see atop the fort except some water cisterns and the thumbs up point.

The shape of the hill-top is fascinating. It replicates your mood giving you a thumbs up when you finish a couple of tough climbs,

but also taking the opportunity of showing a ""up yours"" when you're struggling.

From the top you can really appreciate the control this fort would have given the incumbent in seasons like this.

Really loved the time spent on top.

There is nothing much to see at the top of the fort except the surroundings.

However, we were treated to a spectacular view from the top.

It indeed feels great once we have reached the top.

But the moment we reached the top, clouds began moving in and all of a sudden it just started pouring..

The sudden change was indeed welcome.

But due to the rains, the path down had become super slippery..

Coming down was difficult in the bad patches due to steepness of the rocky roads.

My research had dismissed the climb as an ""easy"" one: I can attest that in the monsoon rain and fog it is definitely close to the top rating on difficulty.

But this shouldn't daunt you since you're likely to be surrounded

by singing dancing dare-devil fellow trekkers in this season.

There is a small bird sanctuary just at the base.

We were treated to the sights of peacocks and a few little rabbits.

All is well that ends well. It was worth the while, and the victory of surmounting the difficult is always sweet.

Overall Experience was amazing...Simply wow... cannot get over with the great experience...totally spellbound by the beauty of the place...

never felt so close to nature especially after the concrete jungle that is Mumbai

The initial climb is a tough one, the middle is a ridge -- a reward with great views.

The climb is steep but on the bright side very short ( barely 3 kms).

However I feel that this trek does offer a great break from busy and polluted citylife.

In conclusion, trekking up Karnala is a fun and enriching experience.

Thanks to SSA for this beautiful memorable experience... Team leaders were very polite and helpful...The food was provided just like ghar ka khana... Fellow trekkers were so good and friendly... really enjoyed...Once again Thank you SSA....
