What if we told you that just a few hours away from the city heat, lies a giant lake, where the water reflects the galaxy itself at night. Where you can take a walk in the forest and see hundreds of fireflies hover by as they illuminate the woods in a mesmerizing dance.

Come along and experience nature at it's glorious best at Bhandardara. Let us show you Where The Light is!

Timing:

Meeting point: Tip Top Plaza, Thane (Saturday 11:30 am)

Departure point: Tip Top Plaza, Thane (Sunday 3 pm)

Itinerary:

DAY 1:

Meet the Vagabond team at 11:30 am sharp outside Hotel Tip Top plaza at Thane. We take our privately booked bus from Thane all the way to Bhandardara in rural Maharashtra. We reach our lodge at Bhandardara and check into our dormitory. After some tea and snacks, we can go boating on the lake and head for a quick swim.

An early dinner of the local cuisine will be served, after which we head out to the deep dark forest with a guide to experience nature's wondrous phenomenon- FIREFLIES! Don't forget your DSLR cameras if you're a photography enthusiast. But be warned, no photo or video will ever do justice to how beautiful this site is with your own eyes! After spending some time staring at this site in awe, we return back to our lodge.

We will, of course, have a campfire, accompanied by campfire games if the weather permits.

Feel free to stay up the night and gaze into the galaxy, if you wish.

DAY 2:

Wake up for breakfast by 8:00 am. Go for a dip in the lake and click those last few photographs.

We head back to Thane in our bus and return home with yet another experience ticked off our bucket list!

I highly recommend choosing Vagabond as your travel partners for Spiti! I went to their fire-flies Bhandardara trip with a friend in June 2018, and then alone to Spiti in August 2018. Both the times, it was overwhelmingly positive, fun and memorable! In Spiti, from the ground you stand on to as far as your eyes can see, everything is awe-inspiringly beautiful. You dont really have to venture specifically to go to a beautiful spot. All of it is beautiful! And the trip organisers let us savour this stunning landscape in as much of its entirety as possible, sometimes making brief car-stops to just savour what lies in front of us, or moving around scheduled things if majority of us wanted to revisit a spot or stay at a spot for a little longer. They not only knew the usual tourist spots, but also those tucked away, the unusual and hidden ones. One evening, they took us to a cafe which was hosting an open mic evening, a documentary screening, and they had the cafe prepare a sumptuous local cuisine just for us! They made sure we got a taste of the local and the authentic. We savoured Spiti Coffee, Momos, Thukpa, Yam cheese, as well as apple orchards, river valleys, mountain tops, green-pea fields, ancient monasteries and some of the most delicious food!Whether it was travel, food, sight-seeing, stay or occasional unforeseen emergencies, they were very responsible and had everything in control. You can also be assured of great music for the road and some strange, fun games! The best part of going with Vagabond is that they let you be. They arent icy rigid with the itenary, youre free to do what you want to do, to wander and drift, to join their plan or stay back and do your own thing. They let you explore the place on your terms, at your own pace. As someone who was traveling alone, I felt safe and comfortable all throughout the trip. The organisers are very approachable and always friendly.I highly, highly, highly recommend choosing Vagabond as your travel organisers. - by Raushan for Back-Pack-Go!
