Whether you are a Beginner, Enthusiast or Amateur.....and you want to come Alone or do a duo (with your teenager/child) ....Join us for a 2 day Kathak Workshop on 2nd and 3rd June.
In the workshop, Siddhi Goel will begin with the basics of Kathak- Hand movements/gestures and Footwork. There will be special focus on understanding rhythm, rhythmic patterns, variations in speed, and the mathematics of Kathak, which is a unique aspect of this dance form. Participants will be acquainted with the bols of Kathak (mnemonics), concept of taal, laya and rasa. Indian classical dancing has been found to be exceptionally helpful to students in improving pick up speed and attention span, and an enhanced hold on calculations, owing to the dominance of mathematical rhythmic patterns in dance. Thus, this workshop is open to beginners, enthusiasts, amateurs alike, as everyone will find something to connect with in our conjoined art experience.
About the Trainer: Siddhi Goel is a professional Kathak Dancer based in New Delhi. She holds a Masters in Arts and Aesthetics from JNU, with a specialization in Performance Studies. She spends her time in teaching and performing, and has represented her dance form in India and abroad, distributing her performances in her capacity as a soloist and group artist of her Guru Pandit Jai Kishan Maharaj. Her recent works include conceptualizing a solo piece on Hori which was widely appreciated by the audience. Siddhi tries to use the storytelling aspect of Kathak creatively through a combination of movements and abhinaya and feels that there is a powerful potential in art forms to touch our souls.
