Women of the house make mud and mirror murals to decorate it. These murals have various patterns and designs. Mirrors on Lippan art glitter and glimmer with a change in light. About the Artist Facilitator:
Nishi Srivastava has been involved in the exploration of folk and tribal art and crafts of India for over a decade. During her visit to Kutch in Gujarat, Lippan Kaam commonly known as Mud mirror artwork greatly influenced her to explore this dying art in which the artists and artisans in that region have apparently stopped practicing. She learned the history and how the local artisans and women work during her stay there and have developed a technique of developing this beautiful mural art form on boards and walls. She has been involved in spreading and promoting this art among the different parts of the country via workshops where people from Urban cities get an opportunity to get acquainted with this fascinating craft, appreciate our rich artistic heritage and try their hands at it.
Who we are?
The Craftsutra, we create Artsy experiences where people can engage in a variety of Art/craft forms, discover things about themselves and meet other art enthusiasts. We believe that anyone can create Art and encourage people who are even vaguely interested in art to participate in a myriad of interactive workshops.
The idea is to create unique artsy experiences, the opportunity for people to meet with like-minded folks and obviously, let people harness some painting/crafting talent while creating a memory that brings with it warmth and contentment.
