Eligibility: Class II to VI

Want your child to learn the secret of lifting heavy objects? Did you know you could lift a 1kg weight like a feather using a few simple contraptions? The secrets will be revealed in this fun and engaging workshop on Simple Machines!

This is a powerful concept taken for granted because it is very 'simple'. The feeling one gets when using combinations of simple machines is quite exciting. In this workshop, children will get to experience the effortlessness while using mechanical systems such as lever systems, pulleys, etc. They will be given an overall view of concepts such as Effort, Load, Fulcrum, Friction, Weight, etc. At the end of the day, they will be able to identify simple machines in their everyday lives and put them to use to make everyday chores easier.

Our Philosophy

Young-Scientist ensures that at least 50% of its programs contain hands-on activities. We believe that learning is best when immediately reinforced by a visual and tangible lesson. Some of the experiments we do are demonstrations for the safety of the children.

However, none of our workshops is "pure theory/lecture", unless otherwise stated. We encourage the children's active participation in experiments/activities whenever possible.

  • The key concepts per session will be kept minimal and simple.
  • They will be reinforced repeatedly, along with experiments, to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
  • Experiments and activities will be distributed over the duration of the session.
  • Theory sessions will be brief and serve to connect the different activities.
  • Videos and animations will be employed whenever possible.
  • Worksheets and Observation sheets will be provided wherever necessary.

What is Young-Scientist.in?

Young-Scientist (YS) was founded in 2015 with the aim to make science simple and fun for children. It provides science enrichment programs that emphasize visual learning and employs hands-on activities. Young-Scientist.in has been incorporated as Jeune Scientist Pvt. Ltd.


Are you guys from IIT-Madras?

The YS team comprises of members from a varied background. The founder studied Chemistry in graduate school and built a career in the IT industry spanning two decades. We have physics majors, chemistry enthusiasts, science lovers, retired professors, researchers and others in the team - united by our aim to make science accessible to all.


What else do you do besides science workshops?

We organize science camps and run science clubs in schools and apartments. We are passionate about education research and are constantly developing teaching tools, experiment kits, science curriculum, infographics, etc. We also design YS Exploration Studio - a comprehensive science lab for schools.

I have registered for the workshop/camp. What happens next?


1. Upon successful registration, you'll receive an SMS notification and an email from EventsHigh which can serve as a ticket.

2. The contact number provided will be added to our WhatsApp group in a few days. If you don't have WhatsApp or use a different number for it, or if you haven't been added, please get in touch with us.

3. In addition to the instructions sent via the confirmation email from EventsHigh, we will be updating you on the event and the venue in the WhatsApp group.

4. After the workshop/event is over, a report will be posted in the group along with a link to the Google Photos album containing pictures from the session.
