Brought to you by Young-Scientist Please note that this is a kid-only camp.
Eligibility: Class IV to VIII
We use light every moment of the day when our eyes are open. It is important that we understand what it is and how it behaves. In this camp, we will explore the physics of light and optical devices. The camp includes a tour of theYS science Centre, a science show, workshop and a DIY section where each participant builds a periscope and takes it home!
Theme: Light, Electromagnetic Waves, DIY - build a periscope
Each participant will be building a periscope/pinhole camera.
All materials will be provided as a kit.
Tentative list of experiments:
Total Internal Reflection
Speed of light
If you want to buy multiple tickets, please contact us to learn about any available discount.
Lunch Break:You can return to pick up your kids for lunch or send them with a lunch bag. We will take a break from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM.
Young-Scientist ensures that at least 50% of its programs contain hands-on activities. We believe that learning is best when immediately reinforced by a visual and tangible lesson. Some of the experiments we do are demonstrations for the safety of the children. However, none of our workshops is "pure theory/lecture", unless otherwise stated. We encourage the children's active participation in experiments/activities whenever possible.
The key concepts per session will be kept minimal and simple.
They will be reinforced repeatedly, along with experiments, to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
Experiments and activities will be distributed over the duration of the session.
Theory sessions will be brief and serve to connect the different activities.
Videos and animations will be employed whenever possible.
Worksheets and Observation sheets will be provided wherever necessary.
