Come and learn the art of storytelling and communication!

You not only learn the intricacies of this traditional Indian art form but also get the opportunity to beautify your own piece of clothing with symbols, designs and motifs taught to you by the traditional Pattachitra artisan during the 2-hour workshop.

The Patua community of West Bengal has practiced the ancient craft of Pattachitra since the 13th Century. The traditional painters would wander from village to village, entertaining and educating village folks. They would unroll each hand-painted scroll, frame by frame, and sing pater gaan or narrative songs that they had composed themselves. The Chitrakars mostly share stories rooted in mythology and folklore however, recent stories include social messages and narratives on contemporary events.

Duration: 2 hours

All materials will be provided by us.
