It has been said that after nourishment, shelter and companionship, humans need stories to live a good life. A love for stories is hardwired into every human being. Storytelling can be used to instill a sense of understanding and pride in our culture and rich heritage of the community. Storytelling is a very creative way to instill deeper understanding of current and historical events while learning moral messages from it.
KathaGhar will appeal to all the young people who are unaware or unenthusiastic about learning about our country, our history, ancient or modern, and the world we live in. KathaGhar will strive for the students to grow academically, socially and as a community. Our storytelling will instill great communication skills and a love for reading. The storytelling will make students more active, encouraging them to conjure up their own mental images and in the process, stimulate creativity and imagination.
The main three goals kept in mind while structuring the storytelling activity for kids are:
1. To create and foster a sense of community for kids and adults. The sessions will encourage a sense of empathy towards others. The kids will also develop a sense of belonging and encourage better relationship with other people.
2. To instill a sense of pride of our local community and our country. During the storytelling sessions, kids will visualize and sensitize towards the society they live in. The kids will also learn life lessons and wisdom through our storytelling sessions. These sessions usually centre towards one chosen theme.
3. To instill a love of literacy among kids. This will encourage them to be lifelong learners. Our storytelling sessions will create a nurturing and intellectually stimulating atmosphere, this will help kids become truly invested in the process of learning. The kids will also develop strong linguistic skills. The kids will play with words and extend those words into sentences.
Our programs supplement the academics and provide an encouraging and supportive sessions for young learners. Our programs will help the child grow into a more confident and a well-rounded individual. We have collaborated for our workshops with Kydzadda and Shoonya.
We also conduct workshops for adults various topics.
We continue to do our workshop on regular basis in 1st block Jayanagar and 5th Block Jayanagar.
A Painting Exhibition by Trishna Patnaik
Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division give rise to Abstraction! Is this a mathematical formula? Well, no but maybe a yes!
Addition of colours, Subtraction of tones, Multiplication of figures and Division of space gives rise to a beautiful Abstract piece. Abstract piece as in a Meaningless piece! We derive an art work from mathematics! Well, that is the key, Mathematics may not teach us how to Subtract hate or Add love but teaches us one thing every problem has a solution! And what an amazing solution we have derived! Abstraction giving us unlimited possibilities of expression!
Expressions which leave us intrigued as they have no concrete meaning! Or maybe they do, are we looking deep enough?
Look forward to having you at Atta Galatta anytime on 25th March and 26th March, 2017 to experience the Expressions which I (Trishna Patnaik) have created in the form of some paintings.

The Sound Of Poetry is a poetry project with a difference. It was initially conceptualized in 2015 to experiment with the coming together of music and poetry. Monthly shows in Pune saw great crowds, superb participants and a great vibe overall. Since then, the project has evolved to accommodate more formats and art forms. Currently, the project is present in the cities of Bangalore and Kolkata where poetry sessions and workshops are conducted. The project is also involved in using poetry as a tool to create social awareness about the architectural and cultural heritage of cities, to further the cause of Indian English poetry in the country and to spontaneously indulge in general tomfoolery when nobody is looking.

What is TSOP going to conduct on the 26th of March?
A simple writing workshop with a no-frills format that nudges you to come out of your comfort zone, makes you feel deeply and asks you to create a piece of writing. In the first half of the session, we will create writing elements through dialogue and introspection. Post that, ample amount of time will be provided to express oneself on paper. At the end of the session, participants discuss and share their creations.
There are no pre-requisites for the workshop, really. You can be a novice writer, a closet poet or a macho writer spewing out creations left, center and right. :) This is not an instructional workshop where we 'teach' you something. This is an experience of sorts where we help you create writing elements/triggers and then you use these elements/triggers to express yourself on paper. This expression could be anything - poetry, prose, about yourself, a description of something, an emotional outburst, anything!
We try to keep as less rules as possible to not constrict the participants in any way. You get ample time to write and you can write anything under the sun in any manner. :)
What about registrations and rules and similar boring stuff?
You can register by dropping us a mail or a call. You may register on the spot on the day of the event. However, we encourage you to mail or call us as it helps us to gauge the degree of participation and plan accordingly. The few rules that are there would be announced on the day of the event. (Who cares about rules anyway?).
Also, please bring along a pen!
Is there a registration fee?
Yep. 200 is the registration fee (includes simple lunch!). Payment can be made at the venue.

Is that old copy of Malgudi Days collecting dust at the corner of your book-shelf? Those tunes that we hummed while growing up, the poems we read in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu etc. – Did they become a thing of the past? Are you nostalgic for all those experiences that laid the foundation for your interest in literature? If your answer to the above questions is a ‘yes’, then rest assured you are at the right place! About Us A book holds a thousand memories within its pages. Books that have the essence of our origin and our culture are the ones that unfailingly captivate us.
