Funds collected from this event is used in creating awareness among shopkeepers at Shivagange, setting up Sign Boards and dustbins along the entire trail.
is a mountain peak with a height of 1368 meters & at a distance of 54 km from Bangalore. The sacred mountain is shaped as a shivalinga and a spring flows near by, called as "Ganga", thereby by giving the place its name.
Being sacred peak, It is frequented by thousands of visitors every week. To serve the visitors all along the trail to the peak there are many shops which sell plastic bottles, Juices and snacks. But people who are ignorant throw the plastic everywhere filling each and every crevasse. GODs dwell in you and nature. Keep your mind and nature clean.
An interesting belief about this temple is that if an abhisheka is performed with ghee here, the ghee turns to butter. It is said that the ghee that turns to butter has medicinal powers and can cure many ailments. According to legend there exists a secret tunnel that extends from the sanctum sanctorum (Garba Griha) of this temple to the Gavi Gangadhareshwara temple in Bangalore, around 50 kilometer from this temple.
The vertical ascent is approximately 800 metres, much of which is climbed towards the end of the trail - steep and narrow - safety rails are provided in such areas.
