How do we evolve to being a better version of ourselves?
Come join in for a discussion on Being You-Discovering And Understanding Yourself
On Sunday Sept 3, 2017 at Atta Galatta between 4pm-5.15 pm
A Take On Life(ATOL) is a one-of-a-kind initiative in Bangalore. We host discussions on concepts related to life. Each discussion evolves into a melting pot of new ideas and perspectives, making it an enriching experience. ATOL believes in the power of personal stories and experiences as a medium to learn , unlearn and broaden ones perspective towards life . It is sometimes in another persons story or thought that we may find an answer to many of our lifes questions. Join in to share your perspective on the topic, while you get to listen to others. As you walk out, you can have your Take on the topic!
The topic for this event, Take 11, is Being You. Man is a social animal and adaptability is one of our key traits. Often while adapting to new situations and circumstances, we at times fail to be our original self. This discussion will focus at understanding our core values and what it takes to be yourself, while still remaining socially adept. The session will also try addressing whether it is fine conforming to a larger group in order to be accepted. The varied views and experiences shared during the discussion will help people reflect and think of who they truly are. Come, join in, and have your take on BEING YOU

In a bustling city of flyovers, lights, and smells, the play zooms in to a little house - to the lives of a father, a mother, and their daughter. This family of three have everything they need. A seemingly perfect unit. Until the father loses his job, the daughter starts to grow up, and the mother sees her world changing. Equilibrium is disturbed. Their ideals are challenged by their subconscious biases. They must make choices, and someone will get left behind.
3 is about the orbits of dysfunctionality in a suburban nuclear family. As a young girl begins to grow up, each member battles with feelings of love and disgust. The play asks the questions what are the moral physical boundaries between a parent and child? and should you stay true to your values at any cost, even if that leads to destruction of your family?
The play was developed over the course of Indian Ensembles Young Playwright training program (2015-16)

In the making of 3, I had three sources of inspiration, beginning with the collected personal experiences of women and adolescents. It prompted my exploration of how a parent- child relationship changes as a girl comes of age, and must conform to the norms and rules of the world around her. Secondly, I wanted to look closely at the clash of ideals and values in a family, and what influence that has on an adolescent girl. That led to my third question of how much freedom and choice can parents allow their children, before their own inherent conditioning comes in direct conflict? For me the most exciting part of creating the play was exploring these questions and the blurred lines between what actually happened, and what was misunderstood, which threw up constant challenges of how to treat time and memory.

Over the last two years, the group has worked with artists from various fields, and is growing into a vibrant space for experimental young artists. KathaSiyahs previous productions are Taramandal (Performed in Hindi and English) and GidaGiduga (Performed in Kannada), both of which have had several successful shows in Bangalore and Manipal

Towering trees with scurrying squirrels and swirling streams with fantastic fish form an enchanting forest in which a family with two bickering, inquisitive kids decides to set up camp. The jocular siblings soon find themselves sucked into a whirlpool of fairytales that seems to throw up cottages, dwarfs, bears, lost shoes....
But reality rushes into this fantasy and the endearing duo needs to escape the woods and whatever's lurking in its depths, all the while entertaining us with their laughable antics. Take a walk with them to enjoy their comic capers and become a part of their Unfairly Tales.
Dramamia is powered by the dynamic duo Ramya Sundararajan and Amruta Bendre.
Ramya is a born storyteller. She can weave stories out of nothing and has the listeners totally involved, totally bought into the tale shes spinning. More so with kids. She seems to share their view of the world and they hers.
Amruta is a creative. She comes up with the wackiest ideas - be it in writing or singing or whatever else - turning everything she touches into something amusing. Kids see her as one of their own and engage with her energy and enthusiasm.
Both Amruta and Ramya share a fantastic sense of humour that touches all aspects of their performance. Both share a light hearted point of view that makes them endearing. Kids flock to this combination like flies to candy
The Cat squad is a volunteer group of rescuers from across the city of Bangalore coming together to rehabilitate, rehome , rescue and foster injured, abandoned, homeless cats and kittens. We started off as a whatsapp group and a facebook page over 2 years ago and today have evolved into a movement of sorts - encouraging neutering , vaccination and proper care of companion cats.
All of us , started out as dog rescuers and we adapted our expertise. Today, we work to train others in the correct way to care for helpless cats.
What we do
Rescue - We get called in when cats /kittens are in danger, injured etc. and work with other rescue groups to secure them Foster - We extensively foster cats and kittens with the aim of improving their health and readying them for adoption or release.
Rehoming- we screen potential adopters, educate them, help with information about cat proofing etc and find long term homes. Rehabilitating - We help injured / abandoned animals recover and release them back into their community ( community cats )
Neutering - We encourage spaying and neutering of cats ( to keep populations down) and run regular camp.
Humane education program - During our camps, we run engaging art and craft activities to teach children about cat care.
Why we need help
Every month our small group of volunteers (15) gets over 50 rescue calls with animals in critical condition. Healthy kittens take up time and energy and we are unable to focus on looking after animals in dire need. The adoption camps are a chance to help us find great homes and spread the word aboutour work.
How do we finance our operation
We are a volunteer group and spend our limited resources on vet bills etc. We do not fundraise, but tie
up with registered animal shelters who want to sell their merchandise etc. They in turn allot us shelter space ( As required ) and other in kind support.
In general, our operations are run on a shoe string budget and with great difficulty. But we still manage to rescue and rehome 100's of cats.
