Kuch Pyaar Kuch Tadap- Of Love and Longing

We live in a world where strife prevails as a norm and war surrounds us however surreptitiously, through ideas like competition, propriety, work, progress, the proverbial rat race or the need to climb the ladder of success. Where is the time to celebrate the essence of life... namely love? This book is both a celebration and a medium to mourn over that sometimes elusive, of ephemeral, almost always exuberant, enchanting, evocative and inspiring force called love. The English version is a translation of the Hindi original which holds the potential to become songs and is a tribute to the lyricists of old Bollywood films. It offers the ground for love to play out and pave its way beyond the barriers of custom, tradition, religion, age and the like, that souls may meet and experience bliss beyond the confines of expectations.

Bhaktas of Bharatadesa is a humble attempt to bring in the age old tradition of storytelling that prevailed in India long years back. Music and Movement, flourished during the earlier years and hence the artists ( storytellers here) incorporated them in their stories to bring more clarity and understanding, some argue the other way as well. The stories shared will be centred around the " poets of Karnataka" and their lives.

About Lavanya Prasad:

Lavanya Prasad is a Storyteller by profession and runs Talescope since March 2014, that works with children and adults using stories as a medium to connect.

Lavanya believes that knowledge that is not shared goes wasted, and she aims at sharing what she knows through Talescope. Anything that enhances any experience is amazing, and for this very reason, Talescopes sessions are always filled with music and movement, to suit the needs.

Talescope works with children and adults and partners with anybody or any organisation that would love to collaborate and enhance experiences through stories.

Stories and rhymes make childhood more memorable. They bring in relatability and comfort in a child's mind. This session focusses on weaving tales and traditional Indian rhymes together, highlighting the cultural richness of the two. Introducing the current generation to the stories and rhymes which were popular in the previous generation is also the objective of this session.

The stories narrated will make you think, laugh and learn a handful of words from different Indian languages. These Indian folk tales will bring one closer to the heritage of the region they come from.

Not to forget the rhymes. There's a rhyme about the white moon, there's a rhyme about the cham, cham rains, there's something about the chuk, chuk trains too! Squirrels, monkeys, crows and buffaloes. Also about the pappadams, dosas and vegetables. Fun, rhythm, beats and intonation are all important when we sing or recite these Indian rhymes. We'll end the session with a few relevant games.

There are riddles in visuals, there are riddles in actions, and then there are riddles in verse. Like this one here.

Deh na dekhi, naram kahaaye

Buraa lagay aur hansi bhi aaye

(Invisible, but they call it tender

Feels bad, but it evokes laughter)

Ankit Chadha, the author of Amir Khusrau - The Man in Riddles, invites children with their elders to play along. Khusrau, the great poet of the 13th century, made songs out of the most banal experiences of life. Come, sing along these riddles that have been sung for the last 700 years.

About Ankit Chada:

Ankit Chadha, a writer, researcher and storyteller, specializes in weaving new narratives for Dastangoi. His writing varies from biographical accounts of personalities like Kabir and Majaaz; to modern folk tales on nomadic pastoralism and the Internet. He has spoken on Dastans at universities including Princeton, Harvard and Yale. Additionally, Ankit has innovated the form of 'musical narrative' that uniquely brings together stories and music. Apart from performing the Urdu adaptations of children's classics including Alice and The Little Prince, he has authored two books for children.

Sketching with Perspective - Workshop

Venue: Atta Galatta

Note: All materials will be provided.

Drawing is an art that can be perfected only with proper learning and practice. Many of us struggle with drawing, especially drawing in perspective. One who knows the perspective can easily recognize whether the drawing/painting was done with that knowledge.

In this indoor sketching workshop, you will be learning concepts of 1 & 2 point perspective with some sample drawings. Understand some of the techniques used for live sketching.

By the end of the workshop you will be completing a live sketch using the taught techniques.

Mentor

Raju Dyapur (worldofpaintings.com) has masters in Information Systems Engineering from Cardiff University, UK. Even after working abroad in IT for over 20 years, his love towards drawing and painting has never diminished. His experience in drawing/fine art comes from his learning in school and college and the training he got from private lessons in Russia. His strong demonstration in learning and dedication has lead to teaching.

Just before he changed his career as full time teaching in Fine Art and Vedic Mathematics, he returned back to India in 2014. He has conducted workshops in other countries for more than 6 years and he has been conducting workshops in India since 2014.

His students range from different backgrounds including working professionals, Fashion Designers, Interior Designers, movie editors, 3D designers etc.
