Stories dont just educate minds, but also hearts. Stories fuel imagination, foster creativity and build empathy. Stories offer hope and inspiration.
How can teachers utilise the potential of stories while working with children? Can stories be used to teach subjects? If yes, how?
The Art of Storytelling workshop is a full day workshop that addresses all this and more.
Come along and join us for an interactive, thought-provoking session through which we can explore together the Why, What and How of storytelling in classrooms. In addition to understanding how stories can be used to teach, the workshop will also expose participants to the different skills and performance techniques needed to create and tell stories to the audience in a classroom environment, in an interesting and engaging manner.
Stories not only entertain and educate but also instill moral values and preserve our culture. More importantly, storytelling has evolved as an important communication tool in both education and business.

Storywallahs presents Spin - a - Tale, a storytelling workshop for children where they will learn the How, Why, and What of Storytelling, and spin tales of their own.

Bring along with you: a notepad/book, pencil, eraser and of course lots of energy and enthusiasm
At the end of the workshop, children would be equipped with the skills needed to create their own stories and tell stories in an engaging manner.
The space will host a Storytelling performance by the participants of the workshop on 21st May, 5.30 pm 7 pm.

A Manufacturing Engineer by education, Trupti has worked with various IT organizations. She has had work experience in areas as varied as support, technical training, software testing and client relationship. She took a sabbatical from IBM to settle into role of a mother to her twins. While attending a storytelling workshop, she was impacted by the potential that stories had, in creating positive change and decided to join the movement. Since then, she has been telling stories at schools, libraries, literature festivals, bookstores and cultural spaces, in English and Kannada. She intends to use her storytelling skills to spread cheer and inspire change.
Lakshmi has been telling stories to children for over 8 years. Her ability to connect with children is magical. Lakshmi has trained teachers in how to teach through stories and has performed at Bangalore Lit Fest and Bookaroolitfest Childrens Lit Fest and can be seen entertaining children at various venues in Bangalore.
We forget what we learn through rote learning but we remember what we learn through stories. Storytelling is a powerful educational tool. If concepts and subjects are taught through stories, it will make learning joyous and permanent and make the subjects and teachers like-able.
Storywallahs will conduct a workshop "Teaching Through Stories".

The workshop will cover the Why, How and What of Storytelling:
1) Why stories should be told in classrooms
2) What is a story and how to create stories on their own
3) How to teach Math, Science, Language, Life skills and much more using stories.
4) How to perform the story using voice modulation, props and body language
At the end of the workshop, teachers will be able to create subject/concept based stories and learn how to tell stories to make them engaging.
