About our Featured Poet: Debdatta
Debdatta is lovingly known as Deb among her friends. She is a bilingual poet and singer/songwriter. She writes in Hindi and English.
Poetry and songs have been her passion since early childhood. Seven of her Hindi poems were used in the film, Reminiscence of Ether. They found great success at Seoul (South Korea), Mumbai, and Bangalore International Queer Film Festivals. Some of her Hindi poems have been published in Bangalore's first Hindi anthology called, Karnakavita.
Her English poems have been published in journals like Storizen, Urban Confustions, and Poetry.com. She is one of the poets of Urban Solace's anthology called, Steps of Love.
Her poems and songs emerge from the reality that we belong to. They depict estrangement in our times, how technology and work affect our thoughts, the mundaneness of our lives, how relationships struggle today, and how all of these are a part of the eternal universe.
Professionally, Deb has written many television commercials and jingles. She was trained as a copywriter at Ogilvy, Bangalore. She has also served as an Associate Creative Director at McCann Worldgroup, Bangalore.
Deb is an enthusiastic photographer, dancer, and guitarist too. You may find her as soul_unplugged on Instagram.
