Let's imagine a story like a human body. It has a skeleton and around its blood, flesh, skin... The skeleton is more or less the same for everyone, but the rest depends on our choices, our experiences, our ancestors: It tells who we are. This is the creative part of Storytelling. Come along and learn how to make a story your own! No previous storytelling experience is required.
Workshop 2: Time - 2 PM
WHAT COMES AFTER? STORY ACTIVITIES TO EXTEND AND DEEPEN LEARNING
by SHEILA WEE
Whilst the simple act of telling a story is highly educational, it is only the beginning of the benefits of storytelling. When you start with a story and follow up with activities that lead out into different parts of the curriculum, you increase children's engagement both with the story and with the learning experiences.
With increased exposure to the world of the story, children pick up word structure, vocabulary and confidence. in communication. In this highly interactive workshop, you will experience how activities can lead out of a story and come away with practical, tested activities that you can put straight into use in your classroom or home.
