I define myself as a seeker, a traveler and a teacher. My journey of seeking beyond the finite keeps me going. Usually, we humans attach our happiness to finite things and even when we know that those finite things are ephemeral, still we keep chasing it. My chase is beyond those materialistic finite things of life; my humble pursuit is to realize who I am.

I handle digital marketing for a monthly print magazine and an online daily which was originally founded by C. Rajagopalachari, the last Governor General of India. I am assisting them reach to more people and thus bringing more awareness of Indian culture to the youth.

Before working for the magazine, I was traveling alone as a part of a Youth empowerment programme by an Indian organization. The empowerment cum leadership programme was quite intense and powerful. I worked with completely diverse set of people, traveled solo across length and breadth of the country and survived some of the harshest working conditions. I think the solo traveling experience across India completely chiseled and shaped my personality and left an everlasting impression on my mind.

(Pratik Kanodia works in Digital Marketing and Content Design for Swarajya magazine. In his recent visit, Pratik shared that he had planned to open a similar social space like Dialogues one year back.)

WHAT IS TAROT READING?

Tarot cards are a tool of Divination that helps answers your questions and concerns. It is not a tool to make prophecies about your future, but to help you make the right choices. Sometimes it just reaffirms what you already know but are not choosing to accept. The main purpose is to help you find the correct path which eventually leads to more harmony & peace within.

So that is what tarot is all about: cause and effect and the choices you can make.

Think back to a time in your life when you did not know which way to turn. When you are surrounded by uncertainty and fear and you dont know the solution. You are not able to deal with your life situation. What a blessing it would be, if someone can help you at that moment and show you a way forward, a way out or even that opportunity that is just around the corner. Tarot can do that for you .

ABOUT Priya :

Priya Kataria is a ancestral tarot card reader whose main area is relationships and emotional blocks. She has been reading for past six years .She does not only help you decipher the current situation and blocks but also guides you how to remove them and work on your emotional and mental strength.

Majority of Indians miss out on achieving financial freedom due to inefficient tax planning and misdirected investments due to lack of awareness.

As a result they are not able to create the corpus to do the things they enjoy doing. They fall short of making the most of their potential and passions due to ineffective financial planning.

This is happening in a situation where sweeping regulatory change, digitization of financial services and new products have created great opportunities for the financially aware investor.

Traveling and art both inspire me. Through my travels, I get to know more about myself and through my art, I experience life. Even in my college exams, when I am not getting an answer to a question, I randomly make some art on my answer sheet and my sadness of not knowing the answer is overthrown by the happiness in the art I make.

I have been traveling alone since I was in Class 2. My parents because of their busy schedule had no time to take me to trips. So, they used to escort me to a bus and would ask the bus driver to drop me at Gokarna where ultimately my grandfather would pick me up. Those bus rides have been my defining moments of my life when I saw out of my window those green trees, paddy fields, vast seas, waving children and much more. I was exposed to the simple joys of life since that early age.

After my college, I would want to earn and then travel with my earnings and then after I have exhausted my earnings traveling, I would go back to earn and then again travel with my earnings. My story shall be an earn-travel-share-repeat one!

What inspires me as a person? I would say exploring myself. Finding out who I am is a very stimulating process for me. That continuous journey of curiosity and wonder.

Like everybody else, my idea of the world is both happy and sad. When I am in a happy mood, the world seems like a land of million possibilities! Every angle of the photograph I try clicking becomes a possibility, every angle gives a perspective. But when I am sad, every path just shuts down and everything feels so difficult.

I was born in Cochin and stayed there till my graduation. I am one of those children born in the late 80s and was glued to TV. There was this TV serial in Doordarshan, I dont actually remember its exact name, but Pallavi Joshi was its lead actress. One of her dialogues has stayed with me till now - mukti ke liye icchha ki zaroorat hoti hai (For liberation, you need to have a desire).

I dont understand what the word independent actually means; its a very subjective word. Arent we all humans interdependent? We all need people around us to help each other, to socially co-opt.

Create a financial management system that works

A Creative Writing Workshop

We all have our reasons to write. What would help us along the way is a method to follow.

What do we do in these three hours?

- We talk a lot; about the books we have read, about the stories and characters that have stayed, about genres of writing and what appeals to us the most

- We then move to focus on the process of writing. We start with a prompt and move on from there, step by step, to a full-fledged story.

- We learn how to create characters, write dialogue, develop a plot and setting to your story.

- We continue to write even after these three hours at the workshop. Trust me, there is no better way to get better at writing than writing itself.

- We write and share our samples with our fellows at monthly informal gatherings. We work on the feedback and suggestions and make our stories read even better.

Come and find out more at the Dialogues Caf.

About the trainer

Asha Francis is a published writer in fiction. Her collaborative novel, Literally Yours, was launched at the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2015.

Dialogues with Books (Poetry)

Theres always a part of us yearning to discuss about the characters that we connect with, the plot of a particular novel that left us spellbound, the author who never fails to impress us and the twists in a tale that made us jump while reading, with enthusiasm unmatched, but our words turn into mere murmurs as we are shushed by the hubbub of logarithms, formulae, corporate deadlines and theories.

That is the impact literature has on us, it makes us create scenarios in our head that never really existed, and in the time we read, we turn the authors words into reality, hoping that we dont run out of pages and the story doesnt end. And once we have completed reading the magic spilled on the paper by the writer, we seek an extension by hyping about it to people around us, who more often than not fail to understand why we go gaga over a book and we are left disheartened.

We at Dialogues recognise this enthusiastic reader in you and host Dialogues with Books, a monthly event, for the bibliophiles, with a different theme every month-this months theme being poetry so that we can talk about the verses that are always stuck in our heads and the sonnets close to our hearts.

So, gather on the 9th of September at 4 pm at Dialogues Koramangala as we all meet with our favourite poetry books, discussing and doing what we love to do!!

Deya Bhattacharya will be hosting the event.

Dialogues Cafe invites you all to "Break Out Comedy" an evening of unprecedented comedy. In this edition of stand up comedy, we present to you three of the finest stand-up comedians in the country:

Arnav Rao went to law school in England and has worked at the Supreme Court and High Courts of India. He now uses his skill set of research, analysis, writing and public speaking to tell jokes ... because he cares about people!

Mayandi Kr is a tall, fair and mansome guy who works as IT Professional in the morning and tells jokes about how his jobs sucks in the evening. Like every other working professional, he hates his boss too. In fact he just goes to office to observe his boss' behaviors and make a script out of it. While others go to Facebook and Youtube for time-pass, he goes to office for time-pass. The best part is that he gets paid for it.

He has performed at ThatComedyClub in Bangalore, Hyderabadass Comedy Club in Hyderabad, as well as Corporate Gigs forHP, GE, BITS PILANI and is a Ha-Ha Hunt Regional Winner.

Rajesh Hinduja is the oldest comedian in the country and discovered his talent for comedy rather late in life. Apparently the talent was hidden so deep down it took a while to emerge !! Two things that confuse him till today are technology and women and when he has to deal with a combination of both the result can be seriously funny .
