Please join us to witness our excellent performance poet friend Eloise Lisboa with her book launch and more awesome poets performing this Sunday! :)
After launching The Beat of Beast in Mumbai and Delhi, @[321837418229766:274:Eloise Stevens] is delighted to be performing in Bangalore with support from these powerhouse poets!

@[557098581:2048:Jay Malaga]

@[161854831041764:274:Mariyam Saigal]

@[100009493001768:2048:Mitali Bhasin]

@[100001832439233:2048:Amandeep Singh]

@[100000728256918:2048:Sudeep Pagedar]

The Beat of Beast was expelled from the gut of Bombay to tell stories of coconut-wallahs and henna-haired witches, monsoons and gallis, feta and watermelon salads. Above all, however, it is the entwining and unraveling of three converging female experiences as they all seek to do the same thing: to conquer this urban beast.

The full-length poetry collection was shortlisted for @[395751620528346:274:The 'Great' Indian Poetry Collective] and @[223425431094659:274:Eyewear Publishing]'s Melita Hulme prize.

@[321837418229766:274:Eloise Stevens] is a poet and workshop facilitator based between Mumbai and London. She holds a degree in French and Portuguese literature from Oxford University, which is where she first started writing poetry. Her poems have been published in Oxford University's Cherwell Literary Supplement, No Bindings, Jaipur Literature Festival, Helter Skelter and The Bombay Review. She has performed at The Cuckoo Club, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, in Mumbai, the Edinburgh Fringe, the Poetry Caf, London, and is a Farrago slam champion. She runs a poetry production house called @[231477547322385:274:And The Amazons] which produces shows based on the good things in life, you know, like radical poet Arun Kolatkar and the 12th-century lovers Heloise and Abelard.

A big big congratulations to our Mumbai team for this 75th session of Poetry Tuesday! This is super awesome.. keep rocking guys!

https://www.facebook.com/events/150466055689096/?ti=cl
Poetry Tuesdays completed 6 years this year and now we are on the 75th reading night this November!

When we started at a CCD in 2011, we had no idea we would come this far. And not this far in terms of time, nor this far in terms of how many people we have been able to reach, or the number of people we have gotten to Thane over the years! We think we have come a long way in building a family that we are very very proud of.

On the 7th of November, the 75th PT, we are commemorating this family. This evening is going to be a mix of the best of PT regulars and some new people who have never performed at PT!

(This event is an exception and it is not an Open Mic.)

25 performers take our very multilingual stage in a semi-curated lineup. We want you there to be part of the celebrations as audience, as supporters, as part of our PT family.

And guess what! We have a swank new venue for this special evening! The amazing people at G5A, Mahalaxmi, have graciously welcomed us to their very pretty place that serves delicious pizzas!

Apart from all of this, Poetry Tuesdays happen on the first Tuesday of each month and have been happening since June 2011.

Also, if you have always wished to learn writing, check out Poetry College at poetrycollege.wordpress.com. It is a 150 hours+ poetry course that started on the 6th of August.

And if you are in Bengaluru, yearning for some poetry, check out @[1177213129007653:69:Poetry Social Bengaluru].

See you on the 7th!

We hope to see some of you this Sunday at The Alipore Post Offline II, sharing and celebrating our common love for poems :)
@[560745572:2048:Rohini] from @[1649922838575096:274:The Alipore Post] and @[665270710:2048:Samantak] from @[1431246983868186:274:The Sound Of Poetry] are going to help create an open space at @[144814632798616:844:The Alipore Post Offline II] where you can amble in and read a poem or two by your favourite poets.

Scribble them in your notebook, bookmark that page in your favourite book or download a few on your phone. Help us learn about that poet who helps you to wake up on the right side of the bed every single day. Talk about their lives and why you connect with their poetry. Tell us how human they are. Tell us how unearthly they are. Let us help each other fall in love, all over again.

This session would be followed up with another session where you can read your own poems.

There are no rules and/or conditions.

Standing at the cliff

of a hi'llock

Stretching hands towards

The moving clouds

Awestruck, mesmerising,

And with a throbing heart

Oh! The creation in it's

Diversity

Looking down

The vast stretch of fields

Flowing streams

Humming creatures

Chirping birds

Grazing cattle, and

Busy beings

The more I ponder

Unable to unravel the mystery

A tiny seed I -

A stream's bed

How do I contain the sea?

Nothing was I when born

Not a piece of cloth on

But the loving tender care

Gradual the process of growth

Body, mind and soul

Grown-up - I do have

All the things I desire

But vacuum within the mind and soul

Uncomfortable feel I, cause

Something a miss

The sense of mystic wear

Dawning pleasant everywhere

For peace and happiness not everywhere

But within the mind and soul

Night rolledout

Day brokeout

Another day, another struggle

To live and let live

Monotonous - birth and death

Rythemic tone, idle fancies

Sap the foundation of belief

Simple yet sap'ful faith

Leads the path, honor and

Dignity unto every faithful
