Itinerary

Itinerary

Short Itinerary

Start from Bangalore – Reach Bhagamandala town – get ready for trek at homestay – Reach Kopatty base – Start the trek – Reach the peak and then to the base – back to homestay – camp fire.

Next day – visit to bhagamandala Village Tour- Bhagamandala Temple – back to Bangalore.

Day 0:

Leaving from Bangalore at late evening. We request you to have some light food before travelling. This trip would be an overnight journey to Bhagamandala Village (via Madikeri) which is about 335 Km away from Bangalore, in which we would have an informal introduction and some fun activity.

Day 1:

We will reach Homestay in morning. Fresh Up at the homestay and Set up for the trek after a nice breakfast.

After breakfast we would take a bus ride of about 8 -9 km from homestay to the Charambane Village. The Trek would start at the Arc on the road. Walk past the playground on your right as the road takes the wide curve besides some pretty plantation house.

The Initial stretch of half km is of the concrete road rounded by paddy fields, pineapples gardens and small village house.

A Water stream coming straight from the mountain cross your path. It is the initial water source is the purest form of drinking water one can witness on this trek.

The road continues to climb gently past coffee plantation. After the concrete road, a jeep track would direct you to the last house of this mountain. The hospitality of coorg people is something one should at-least witness once in his/her lifetime.

The house would offer you shelter and water for some time. And one can explore the different variety of coffee plants as this house is also a kind of nursery.

Right to the house, the path leads us into the dense jungle of Kopatty Mountain. The trail transverse the undergrowth quickly and plunges into a thick mixed forest in five minutes. The Forest is dark and dense and light hardly filters in as the trail weaves in and out around the roots of the trees.

During monsoon season, one can witness lots of leeches, so, we request you should take proper precaution before entering into this jungle. Please look out for professional guidance before embarking your journey on this mountain.

After a 12-20 min walk, you would witness the last source of water. Halting at the place is not recommended but one can use the help of the nature walkers outdoor leaders to fill in you water bottles.

Coming out of the jungle, you can witness one of the best natural scenery in your lifetime. The stretch of the grassland to the peak is clearly visible which lead you into the foggy cloud covering the mountain peak. Another 2 km walk would take you to your destination.

Reaching the top, you would be blessed with a breath taking view of Erullivana Forest and various mountain range emerging from the land you are standing upon. After spending a while we, would start out journey back to the foot hills of the mountain and then to the bus and back to homestay for campfire and hot dinner.

I must admit that I already miss the wonderful trip we had welcoming this new year. We were informed that this trip would be more to chill than to trek and you were absolutely right Mr. Hemant.

As soon as we reached Gokarna beach we left no time in taking a dip in the sea. Then we had a long walk on the beach and a small trek to reach Yana waterfalls. It was fun diving and swimming in the fresh cold waters.

We were back to the beach to witness a beautiful sunset and the view was mesmerizing and to top it off we played beach football in this stunning setting.

We missed the rain in rain dance but danced our hearts out for more than 3 hours!!

We welcomed the new year with colorful sky lanterns and fireworks. The interesting part was that we were enjoying every moment with some amazing people who had become good friends in no time!

On our way back, we played Mafia with our huge team of around 30 people and Asav was a cunning mafia rallying till the end fooling all the poor villagers.

Lastly, I would like to thank Hemant, Anupama and Manoj for organizing this amazing trip and I should mention that I have seen very few people with Hemant’s level of patience. Also, made some wonderful friends in Nikhil, Harsh, Rupali, Tanwi, Anupama, Manish and Hemant.

I have a feeling that the best day of the year is already done with this trip, but I look forward to my next trip with NatureWalkers which is going to take fun quotient to the next level and have some peaceful time off from our hectic job schedule.

PS: I had to wait till weekend to write this review as I had to dive directly into work after this awesome trip. Also, if it wasn’t for my friend Asav I wouldn’t have made this super awesome trip.

I have always been a beach person and when you get the perfect combo of beach and trekking, nothing can be better than that. Me and my friend were part of the "Gokarna Beach Trek - 2 Day Package". We both can unanimously say that this was by far one of our best new year celebrations.

We went with an open mind and was sure to meet quite a few interesting people. Rest assured the plan of staying in tents under the starry night sky. Well! it did turn out as we expected. We met some amazing people, who within a span of 48 hours had become good friends. From strangers to friends; the journey was quick and absolutely amazing.

How could I not mention about the outdoor leaders! Hemant, Anupama, Pawan, and Manoj, they were brilliant with their work. Guiding us cautiously through the entire trip and then partying hard with us during the New Year get together. They gelled along so well with all of us.

So here are my takeaways from the trip:

- traveling on budget can be a lot of fun

- you get to meet more people than you would while travelling alone

- you get the security of traveling in a group; trust me when I say travelling in a group is the best part of the journey

- you get good recommendations on local cuisine

- you have a face off with the part of you that seem to be hiding for years; we danced our way back to Bangalore, for almost 2 to 3 hours at a stretch; not sure when was the last time I did so in such a big group

Cheers to Nature Walkers! Way to go guys. You guys are doing a brilliant job. Looking forward to be a part of a new trip soon.

P.S. With the break of dawn on 1st January, we found a messy beach right in front of our eyes. Trashes from the last night's party; paper lanterns, beer bottles and cans, water bottles, and some more stuffs we littered here and there. As proud Nature Walkers, we worked as a team to remove all the trash and the make the beach look clean, in no time. The new year did start on a good note for all of us!
