GM, or transgenic technology, is a living irreversible technology, and as food consumers, it is important that we engage with the debate of GM foods, as it affects all of us.
To understand the implications of a possible approval of GM mustard in India on urban consumers as well as rural Indians, Bhoomi College is organising a talk and discussion on the subject.
What is GM mustard, what are the reasons why the Government of India is pushing for its approval, what are the objections against GM mustard, what does empirical evidence show us, how can citizens engage further with this matter of importance to all of us etc. etc., would be questions touched upon by Kavitha Kuruganti of Alliance for Sustainable & Holistic Agriculture (ASHA) during her talk.
Kavitha Kuruganti is a leading farmers' rights and safe food activist of India.
Do join us in this interactive session on July 2nd 2017 (Sunday) in Atta Galatta, Koramangala, at 5pm.
Fabrics are very versatile, you can make many many useful things with them. We believe in application-based products, easy maintenance and low cost. Our tag line says " sewing with threads of Love". You think it we quilt it.
It is named after a female fictional character who hails from Punjab and keeps roaming the world as a free soul and expresses all her experiences through poetry.
What makes Jugniz exclusive even further is the calligraphy of poems written by Mohit, who being a poet, is as passionate about words as Anu is for colors.
The apparels are designed by Anu dotingly for females who love poetry and art and can exhibit their love for the same without any inhibitions.
Their goal is simple, to make painted poetry and Jugniz synonymous i.e. if its painted poetry, its probably Jugniz.
Jugniz is the end of your search if you are looking for something really exclusive, elite, elegant and exquisite at the same time.
We all have some tendencies wed rather not look at and acknowledge. Wed rather shun them away, dislike them but when are playing games or often in the game called Life those are the things were least conscious about. We have a hard time learning and moving through Life at times. And what lies unconscious within us comes to the forefront sooner or later and affects our lives and directs our paths in not so desirable ways.
When were playing were excited, engrossed without a sense of limitation. Learning is simple when were having fun and whats more, when there is such a non-agenda environment we relax, open up and are even willing to admit our mistakes / look at things that maybe holding us back in a very natural way. Research shows that most of us learn best about ourselves in effortless ways in life, in a casual conversation with a friend, while watching something fun etc
Through using the reflective lens of interesting and invigorating games we recreate such a space and look into ourselves and have a conversation around it. Hopefully, thatll enable easy and joyful sharing about some of these things that we dont like inside ourselves and move through our stuck-ness.
So lets play! And Learn!

The Cat squad is a volunteer group of rescuers from across the city of Bangalore coming together to rehabilitate, rehome , rescue and foster injured, abandoned, homeless cats and kittens. We started off as a whatsapp group and a facebook page over 2 years ago and today have evolved into a movement of sorts - encouraging neutering , vaccination and proper care of companion cats.
All of us , started out as dog rescuers and we adapted our expertise. Today, we work to train others in the correct way to care for helpless cats.
What we do
Rescue - We get called in when cats /kittens are in danger, injured etc. and work with other rescue groups to secure them
Foster - We extensively foster cats and kittens with the aim of improving their health and readying them for adoption or release.
Rehoming- we screen potential adopters, educate them, help with information about cat proofing etc and find long term homes.
Rehabilitating - We help injured / abandoned animals recover and release them back into their community ( community cats )
Neutering - We encourage spaying and neutering of cats ( to keep populations down) and run regular camps
Humane education program - During our camps ,we run engaging art and craft activities to teach children about cat care.
Why we need help
Every month our small group of volunteers ( 15) gets over 50 rescue calls with animals in critical condition. Healthy kittens take up time and energy and we are unable to focus on looking after animals in dire need. The adoption camps are a chance to help us find great homes and spread the word about our work.
How do we finance our operation
We are a volunteer group and spend our limited resources on vet bills etc. We do not fundraise, but tie up with registered animal shelters who want to sell their merchandise etc. They in turn allot us shelter space ( As required ) and other in kind support.
In general, our operations are run on a shoe string budget and with great difficulty. But we still manage to rescue and rehome 100's of cats.

About The Sound Of Poetry -
The Sound Of Poetry is a poetry project with a difference. It was initially conceptualized in 2015 to experiment with the coming together of music and poetry. Monthly shows in Pune saw great crowds, superb participants and high levels of excitement. Since then, the project has evolved to accommodate more formats and art forms. Currently, the project is present in Bangalore where poetry sessions and workshops are conducted. The project is also involved in using poetry as a tool to create social awareness, to further the cause of Indian English poetry in the country and to spontaneously indulge in general tomfoolery when nobody is looking.
