Details
Bannerghatta National Park near Bengaluru was declared as a national park in 1974. A portion of the park is a biological reserve. This place offers great opportunities for the photographers to take images of avifauna and all variety of wildlife. The Suvarnamukhi stream which originates from Suvarnamukhi runs through the park and this place offers a memorable experience for the participants to experience wildlife and nature.

Date: 11th - 12th March 2017 (1 night and 2 days)

You will find animals freely moving in natural environment though they are in captivity. Bannerghatta has been used as a rehabilitation facility for tigers and lions rescued from circuses. This facility has India’s first Lion and Tiger Safari. The enclosures recreate their natural habitat, and offer you wonderful photographic opportunities. We will be having the following in the itinerary.

Lion- Tiger-Bear Safari

Guided Nature Walk

Visit to the Zoo & Butterfly Park.

STAY

We will be staying in Banerghatta Nature Camp, Jungle Lodges Resorts. It is a great place to be. Bannerghatta Nature Camp is a wonderful place to get acquainted with the great outdoors. Hill View Restaurant is situated near the Mirza Hill at Bannerghatta National Park. Food is served at the roof- top of the restaurant. The restaurant also comes with facilities like amphitheatre, conference hall (audiovisual room), open area to play.

Things to carry

Telephoto lenses – preferably above 300 mm

Carry fully charged batteries for your camera / flash.

Carry battery charger. Carry extra pack of camera batteries

Carry backup memory cards / HDD storage drives, Laptop

Carry a bean bag to stabilize your gears while shooting from safari vehicle

Carry a big towel / cloth to protect your gear from dust

Carry a big cloth / bandanna / scarf to protect you from the dust

It is advisable to carry basic first aid along with you.

Please carry Odomos to keep you protected from mosquito bites.

Carry a pair of good binoculars

On field learning from the experts is said to be one of the best methods of improving your skillsets. Our Wildlife Photography Expert will hand hold you at every possible step for a better understanding of perspectives, camera controls and how to make use of the best opportunities to get better images. The training will focus on the following

How to approach Wildlife in the field

Different modes of shooting (Av / A, Tv / S, M and P)

Exposure control in field under difficult light conditions

Mastering metering techniques (Spot, partial, center weighted, evaluative)

Mastering auto focus, focusing points, AF locking and focus tracking for moving subjects

How to get sharp images of moving subjects

Framing and composition in the field

Ethics in Wildlife Photography

Image processing workshop

To maximize and complete your photographic learning, join our evening session of informal discussions on digital image processing. Our Expert will work on few of his own images or a few of yours (which you have clicked during the day) and demonstrate various techniques of image processing to give a final shape to your artwork. The following will be discussed

RAW files processing

Histogram and exposure control

Colour correction methods

Cropping and image resizing

Sharpening, cloning, dodging and burning

Noise reduction

Composition

MENTOR

Balamahesh is a hardcore nature enthusiast and a skilled wildlife photographer. He has traveled across the country and more extensively in the forests of the southern part of India. His images have been appreciated and acknowledged in various national magazines, news papers and books. He is extremely passionate about amphibians, reptiles and he specializes in macro photography. He is a skilled trainer, regularly conducts workshops and shares his knowledge about natural history to school children in the interest of conservation. Bala has done his Masters in Physics from University of Mysore. Apart from being a skilled photography artist, he is also a talented Bansuri / Flute player. He is one of the most dynamic & talented team leaders for South Indian expeditions of DCP.

#DCPExpeditions has joined hands with #MumbaiMirror #MirrorTribes for offering a range of amazing photography experiences to the readers of Mirror. We conducted a Monsoon Photography Workshop last Sunday. The workshop was aimed at teaching Macro Photography. The venue was Maharashtra Nature Park, Mahim.

The workshop was led by DCP Panel Expert Yogesh Chavan, who was assisted by Group Leaders Ashish Chalapuram & Pankaj Narshana.

The participants were excited at exploring the art of Macro Photography and returned with some great photographs. We would like to thank you all for helping us becoming better every time. Thank you Mumbai Mirror Team for giving us this opportunity.
