Studio Safdar was established by India's pioneer street theatre group Jana Natya Manch in April 2012. In last two and a half years it has become an adda for theatre groups from Delhi and outside where they can rehearse, perform and conduct workshops. The space is dedicated to encourage engagements with community groups, to foster a culture of understanding and cooperation, aesthetic excellence and intellectual stimulation. It has established itself as an adda for theatre wallahs, a space to experiment fearlessly, a space for edgy, creative and even dissenting ideas. The space is run by the Studio Safdar Trust, and the Trustees are: Shubha Mudgal (President), Moloyashree Hashmi (Managing Trustee), Joyoti Roy (Treasurer), Ram Rahman, Keval Arora, Surajit Sarkar, Praveen Vadhera and Sudhanva Deshpande (Executive Director, Studio Safdar).
