A backwater area of the Bay of Bengal, The Muttukadu Lake is a popular destination for water lovers. Situated on the way to Mahabalipuram, the lake can be accessed from the East Coast Road. In fact, it is only 40 kilometers from Chennai on the East Coast Road. It provides ample car parking facilities as well.
The Muttukadu lake offers its visitors a number of water sports including but not restricted to speedboat riding, rowing, wind surfing and water skiing. They also have a boat house from where we can hire speed boats, row boats, water scooters and other such vehicles that can be employed for adventure water sports. The best part of this venue is that the water is not too deep. Hence, novice adventure seekers can safely try their hand at activities they intend to indulge in in the near future. In fact, most of the water sport activities available at Muttukadu lake are so safe that even children occasionally try them out.
There is a boathouse which has a lounge where visitors can sit and watch the boating sessions. There is a floating boat jetty from where we can board into the boats. It is a major attraction and the boat ride lasts for about 20 minutes.

Overall, it is a nice place to spent a day enjoying the water sport facilities. There is a restaurant as well for you to relax at once you are done with the water sports. An excellent place to relax amidst the hectic work schedule. Don’t forget to follow safety instructions if you are heading for a session of boating in the waters. A boat for 6 persons can be hired for 20 min boat ride is refreshing. .Ideal place for quick visits on weekdays especially if you are one of those people who dislike crowds. The Muttukadu lake is a must visit if there is an ideal cloudy climate in Chennai. This is a great place to go to if you are planning a group outing with family, friends or colleagues.
