About The Humming Tree
The Humming Tree is one of the most sought out venues for artists to perform in Bangalore. Be it music or art, each venue is sure to become a success if it’s been held at the Humming Tree.

Open since June 2013, The Humming Tree is the favorite spot for the Bangaloreans to have interesting and delicious food, drinks and congenial thoughts in an authentic environment during the day and a diverse music venue with extra-ordinary sound at night.

Located in one of the most bustling areas of Bangalore, on 12th Main road, off 100ft road Indira Nagar is a hotspot providing a relaxed atmosphere, personal service and, most importantly, fantastic gigs from artists all around India and the world. The Humming Tree is sprawled across two floors with a bright and open terrace, which is an add-on. The interiors are very quirky with the exposed brick and raw concrete contrasted with numerous plants and the warm tones of the wooden bar and seating arrangements.

The space has been ideally named as one can always hear the ‘humming’ of several artists and bands. The Humming Tree is also frequented with comedy artists whose performances force the visitors to Laugh Out Loud. The entertainment is accompanied with scrumptious meals and drinks, which is one of the USP of Humming Tree.

The food, drinks, music and laughter are the four ingredients that makes Humming Tree a loved place for the people of Bangalore.

BYOB is one USP of this place. The place stands true to its name, the place is humming, with one or the other band/artist performing every night. Music gigs is the most attractive point to talk about the Humming Tree. So if you really love to have a drinks in hand and enjoy the live music, this is where you OUGHT TO BE. Also, if you love to laugh, come to Humming Tree. Comedy performances are a regular feature here with talented stand-up artists compelling you o LOL. Ambiance of the venue would surely fascinate you. With great variety of drinks and food, you have plenty of choices to avoid suppressing your appetite.

Check these out: Chilli Basil Chicken and Pizzas are the featured dishes at this place. Make sure you try these out.

Pricing: For a couple of persons, the approximate cost is Rs 1800. Feels a bit expensive? Don't worry, take a chance and visit the place. It would end your false notions as the place would offer you much more than the investment probably by 2 x times..!

Editor's Note
From The Editor's Desk

Summer of ‘13 Indiranagar had another of its rooftop pubs - The Humming Tree.

It is a perfect place for Bangalorean music lovers to unwind. The live music performances there ranges from classic rock to indo-western. This resto-pub couples up as a great place to eat and drink, and an amazing venue for all the happening events as well. It’s open seven days a week from 12 noon to 11:30 pm and on weekends it is open till 1 pm.

In their own words Humming Tree is a 'fun and friendly place to have interesting and delicious food, wicked drinks and congenial thoughts in an authentic environment during the day and a diverse music venue with extra-ordinary sound at night'.

Thus during morning and afternoon, this place serves as the perfect spot for book lovers meet or an open debate session. Whereas, during evening and night they host live performances by some amazing music bands, from across the globe.

Recently they have even started a new initiative, for all the book lovers in town, called - Books & Brew! They started their first event for 'Books & Brew' with an open forum asking book lovers to bring in a book they love and exchange it with another fellow book lover who is attending the event. Their mission is to bring together readers, and start a conversation around their favourite authors, literature and stories.

This place might be deemed slightly expensive at the approximate cost of 1800 for two people, as estimated by Zomato. But it’s worth every penny you spend there. Unlike many other resto-pubs, they actually pay attention to their dishes and gets it right on spot!

There are two levels to the place, the top most is an open rooftop. An amazing place to have a fun time with friends and as well as family. Their in-house board games are an added bonus to the place. Valet parking is also available, thus a person don’t have to worry about getting parking space on the busy 100 feet road.

Crowd visiting the place, the relaxed atmosphere, the rooftop venue and the amazing gigs make the ambiance a fantastic place worth a revisit!

Birthday love and wishes to one of our favourite singer songwriters in the country Mahesh Raghunandan! Check out the video for one of his latest songs "Realize"

Hope you have a great day and we can't wait to have you back at ours sharing your beautiful music!

So much more music on the way.

Realize \ Version Zero

I called you "love", just for the last time

In whispers, I'm sure you didn't hear

What is it worth? Well, you are the smart one

With answers, go on and disappear

Time took its time

And so did miles

Love pushed the blame too far to remain

For us to realize

That when we were young, our troubles were small things

and comfort laid all too close in hand.

We didn't learn 10 years worth of virtue

direction ill-treated all the plans

I wasn't kind

and you were blind

Love took the blame too far in the game

for us to realize

Q #3- How did your love affair with motorcycles begin?

My dad built me a small scrambler with a sunny engine when I was 4. Rest is history.

Q #4- What do you miss the most about home when you're out on tour and working?

Q #5- What advice would you give to those up and coming musicians not sure what to do?

Create as much music as you can. Practice and perform your heart out. Rest will fall in line.

//THT ASKS...

This week we get to know everyone's favourite IT guy, Sanjay Manaktala a little bit better. Keep an eye out because we'll be having Sanjay and friends back at ours soon to tickle your funny bone!

1. The summer heat is here...how do you stay cool?

I sleep with my shirt off which scares my maid if and when I oversleep. I also open up all the windows, wear shorts and t-shirts more often, and drink buttermilk. Ahh butter milk with chaat masala and black pepper, you are my sweet sweet poison.

2. Growing up who were the comedians that always gave you a laugh?

Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Louie Andersen, Dom Irrera (had a very raunchy show on Showtime called Full Frontal Comedy which I loved watching late night), Kids in the Hall, Kentucky Fried Movie.

3. You were vegan for a month, and now you're doing Keto for a month...what was your go to vegan and keto snack?

You know a lot of Vegan people followed me and messaged me on Instagram, like...hang in there! Well done! Welcome to the bright side! Little did they know I was only doing it for like a video challenge...and now they look at me like dude this guy is such a fu*king fraud. And my brother in America was vegan and vegeterian for the last 9 months and now he's also gone Keto for 5 days....so I mean, I'm all about just trying different things and seeing what works for your body.

Go To Vegan Snack: Veggie Pasta, Chili Potato French Fries, Avocado Toast (who doens't like that), Zoodles, most yummy pan asian stir fry stuff that was Vegan friendly.

Snack Wise I loved Ragi Chips with guacacmole....oh wow yum.

Go To Keto Snack: Bacon and Scrambled Eggs with Avocado, but if we're talking proper snack...I'd says Almonds or Keto Coconut Flour flat bread with Almond Butter.

4. What music are you listening to right now?

Retro: I don't Mind by Usher

Bollywood: Bom DIggy (sorry)

5. What advice would you give to up and coming comics in the scene?

You make your own future in this business. It's so easy to message venues and meet managers and ask them for nights to do comedy, and it's never been easier to record a comedy central levle production with a decent DSLR, Cell Phone Camera and proper lights if you know what you're doing and get your million views online. Stop asking people to do things for you and go do them yourself. A stand up comedian also needs to be a video editor, a writer, a camera man, a nightclub producer, (sometimes a DJ), and so on. You have so much time in this business to live a life which actually gives you more material also, so get out there and do it. And read my blog on www.sanjayComedy.com about ten mistakes all Indian comics make and a bunch of other stuff, it's the most viewed one on my site but I still get a lot of the same questions over and over. And welcome to the ride!
