TONIGHT - 6.30 pm @ bFLAT! In India, we dont talk about mental health. We say, itll be fine. We say, youll get over it. We say, snap out of it. But it has been reported that up to 31 million people among the Indian youth alone suffer from mental health issues.

The Campus Diaries #LouderThanWords Mission on Mental Health aims to use SLAM POETRY, to combat the stigma and silence that shrouds mental health and mental illnesses in India - by generating meaningful conversation among over 5 lakh students. The goal is to take the stigma head-on, and through the collective power of 120 students (from 4 cities - Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Mumbai), hand-picked for their dedication, passion, and motivation, they hope to make a sizable dent in this mindset.

LouderThanWords Mission on Mental Health - Poetry Slam
ENTRY FREE!!! - LIVE @ bFLAT - 20th March 2017, 6.30 pm

THE CAMPUS DIARIES MISSIONS are curated, goal-driven projects for students, where they solve real-world problems and create value for themselves and their community.

In India, we dont talk about mental health. We say, itll be fine. We say, youll get over it. We say, snap out of it. But it has been reported that up to 31 million people among the Indian youth alone suffer from mental health issues. A survey by NIMHANS reveals that at least 13.7% of Indias population suffers from some form of mental illness and that 10.6% of them require immediate intervention. The WHO refers to mental health as a hidden emergency, because however serious the problem gets, no one wants to talk about it.And thats a problem - no one wants to talk about it. Even if its happening in your colleges hostel. Or its happening in your dorm room. Or to your sibling. Or to your best friend. Or to you. No matter how serious it gets, or how many people are found hurt or dead in their rooms, or how large the statistics get, no one wants to talk about it.

These Top 30 applicants from Bangalore were chosen on the basis of their passion, dedication, and past work. The selected students were given a Foundational Workshop on the basics of writing and performing Slam Poetry, delivered by some of Indias best youth poets, including Bharath Divakar, Daniel Sukumar, Nandini Varma and Anushrut Ramakrishnan. This was followed by a Foundational Workshop on the subject of Mental Health to give them deeper knowledge into mental health and mental illnesses and equip them to speak in an educated manner about the subject. The Mission participants were given detailed information and insight into the mental health issues that are plaguing the youth today - by members of the Poddar Foundation, a pioneer organisation of mental health awareness in India. Finally, an Advanced Workshop On Slam Poetry - Delivered by world-renowned poets Phil Kaye and Sarah Kay, taught the students on how to communicate through slam poetry.

Armed with this knowledge, the Mission participants will then move on to the Arena, where they will create slam poems to combat the stigma around mental health. - Live @ bFLAT - 20th March - 6.30 pm.

8 yrs old! Day 2: TAAQ + Sylvester Trio Ft. Various Artistes
@[24633722832:274:Thermal and a Quarter] (TAAQ) is a path-breaking band from Bangalore, India. TAAQ describes its music as Bangalore Rock; an eclectic mix of genres with a sensibility that is uniquely global while retaining the essence of their culture and upbringing in Bangalore city. Live, TAAQ delivers an unforgettable, immersive musical experience. From packed clubs to arena-size venues, TAAQs stellar musicianship, hard-hitting lyrics, and fluid improvised style make every gig unique.

TAAQ has released seven studio albums, opened for acts like Guns N Roses, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull, and won several awards for individual musicianship as well as overall contribution to Indian Rock.

The band has played all over India, toured across London, Bonn, Glasgow, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, New York, Dallas, Seattle, Hong Kong, Dubai, Bahrain, Jakarta, Singapore, Maldives and more;

@[627110994011389:274:The Sylvester Trio] was formed in the year 2013, solely to pay tribute to the great Jimi Hendrix. But it wasn't long before their mutual chemistry and a similar passion for music led them to be much more than just a cover band. Their original music has produced a new age sound with funky bass lines, body moving grooves, electric riffs and soulful vocals. Although the sound is primarily towards funk and rock, they experiment on their originals with jazz elements, blues, progressive rock and sometimes even Latin grooves, in fact not binding them to any limits. This makes their music extremely well thought out but it retains all the soul and life that a good song needs.

@[100000095463927:2048:Sylvester Pradeep] (guitars and vocals)/ Joel Rozario (drums and vocals)/ Snehal Pinto (bass and vocals). Featuring: Joshua Costa on piano/organ
