Great experience! One gets to meet people from diverse backgrounds and most of them with a sane head on their shoulders. I always come back with a few books added to my books wishlist. And the place has a positive vibe to it. Absolutely worth my time, otherwise wherever I go I keep thinking "oh, I should have completed that experiment in the lab.."

It was a great event to try new things. Would have been great if we got to know more about making the dye for the block printing and also some hands on related to making the color.

This was my first experience with stand-up comedy as a spectator & i must say i enjoyed every minute of it being there. All 3 of them did a good job but Neelaksh's act was incredible. We were laughing our guts out. Making a person laugh is a very tough job.

Keep up with the quality. All the best.

About Dialogues Cafe

You usually visit a coffee shop for some retreat and respite from the outward chaos, to do office work in peace. Almost all the cafes today offer free WiFi so that you can get your office work done, while sipping a hot cuppa. However in the back of your mind there’s always the thought of the coffee and food bill burning a hole in your pockets. Amidst all the cafes’ Dialogues café has stood out and is quickly gaining popularity because of its unique concept. Here you get charged only for the time you spend here.

Located in Koramangala in Bangalore, Dialogues Café is more like a social club with a cafe, work-space and library of sorts, all rolled into one. The other facilities of Dialogues Cafe include the permission to order food from outside, or bring you own tiffin. What else can anyone ask for in a café?!

Dialogues Café charges Rs 190 for the first hour and then Rs 3 per minute, at a maximum charge of Rs 1,000 for a day. There is a weekly plan for Rs 3,400, and monthly plan for Rs 6,900 per head.

Four years back, after burning a lot of midnight oil, I wrote a 1400 page fantasy novel. The book didnt turn out as well as I expected and it was highly upsetting for me. I lost motivation for nearly 2 years, and I couldn't write anything. I took me time to recover and now I am back working on something better. That failure taught me a lot.The most important learning was that it taught me what not to do. I began studying the craft of writing more carefully and learned from the stories that were close to my heart.

I manage to write on a daily basis and in few months my next book is going to be completed and published. My advice to all aspiring writers is to keep at it. Dont focus on bestsellers or whats supposed to be a brilliant, critically acclaimed book. Read stuff that makes you happy and keeps you engaged, write to get reactions from your readers and dont forget that everyones first draft is absolute shit. You have to edit something at least two to three times to make it beautiful. Ask your favourite author, theyll agree with me.

Dialogues Sun, 21 May
Dialogues turns 1 year today! This day, our dreams took shape in the form of this beautiful space.

It has been an amazing and humbling journey where we were pampered by so much love, so many expectations and a wonderful experience. Our endeavour continues to create an ideal social place where people can meet, dream, discuss, collaborate and implement ideas.

Team Dialogues thanks all of you for this support. And we continue to dream :)

Suno. Socho. Banao. - Storytelling and Puppet making.

A story and a little puppet.

Whenever we listen to stories, we imagine how the characters would be. In this session we will make puppets after the storytelling.

How the puppet-making works:

TAiE wants children to discover the love of nature and stands by its mission and hence, the puppets will be made from materials like leaves, coconut shells, old cloth pieces, gloves, pieces of rope, etc. as far as possible.

This session will show children how they can have fun while making simple crafts in the form of puppets and still play with them and make more on their own at home!

While they may not look fancy and like store-bought toys, they will give children a sense of satisfaction as it will be a reflection of what they like.

TAiE does not believe in mass-production and children will not be "told what exactly they need to do"; rather they will be guided and encouraged to make the puppets in their own way as TAiE wants to cultivate a culture of thinking among children.

Please note:

If you're looking for traditional or fancy puppets then you could get in touch for future sessions when we will be making more elaborate puppets. (Subscribe to TAiE events)

Poetry is the spontaneous flow of emotions, it has a power to change lives. Poems make us to think, wonder and engage with the beauty of life.

I also try to capture the canvas of my life in prose and one day intend to be a published poet. I have written few of them and am trying to reach a count sufficient enough to be bound in a book.

Its been 6 years in Bangalore now and I can say that I am a contented software professional. I had my fair share of ups and downs in both personal and professional life. I have kept my humble pursuit of adding new skillsets and undergoing new experiences with me. I enjoy reading poetry and I read almost everyone from Robert Frost, R L Stevenson to new upcoming poets. There are some I understand, some I don't. Thats what makes poetry beautiful, you don't have to understand them but feel them..

(Gargi, works at one of the Big 4, has published several poems in magazines and plans to publish her own book. She enjoys attending events at Dialogues and poetry events are her clear favourites.)

You can aptly call me an old Bangalorean. Bangalore has been my home since the day I was born. I have grown with this beautiful city, its amazing people and the city continues to play a strengthening character in my life.

I am a stand-up comedienne and have performed across various cities in India. Contrary to my image on stage, deep down I am a very shy person. I find it difficult to easily open up infront of a lot of people. Not having too many friends give me lot of free time and that is when I explore and observe deeply. And these observations are later transformed into my performances on stage.

Stand-up comedy teaches you a lot as a person. It teaches you the continuous journey of unlearning and learning and this ongoing process has definitely made me a stronger and a large hearted person.

(Sneha Suhas is an anchor, actor and a very popular stand up comedienne in Bangalore. Her wittily entertaining performance at Dialogues caused a lot of unprecedented laughter and a huge increase in her already large fanbase. )

We're always looking, and we've found some more "kahaniyan" that have been loved for years and years and listening to them with a little bit of "nayapan" thrown in!
