I was pleasantly surprised by the performances the cast delivered. The performance is a dramatic reading of Mahesh Dattani's play "Dance like a Man". I haven't seen the Dattani's original play but I can tell from this experience that the team has chosen a brilliant play to stage read. The cast play multiple roles and excel at those and in instances where they portray emotions that the characters are going through.

It was a very useful workshop, highlighting some points that we may not have realized. Stories are always fun and Mr Ameen was fabulous! His team supported him ably. We did not realize how time got by. Met some interesting people too.

It was an enriching experience. Learning positive body language through self realization and making a conscientious effort to create positive impact on our surroundings and people around. Overall an amazing experience. Surely gained some confidence with the five principles explained by Aruna. It was also wonderful to connect with all the participants , we learned so much from each other. It was an awestruck moment watching the Individual performances.. Looking forward for more..

Pros- Anchor Suman was excellent. A couple of the acts were decent too.

Cons- Venue was packed- without airconditioning. Suffocating indeed. Some the acts were amateur and barely managed to keep the attention of the audience.

The Dastangoi evening was such a charming event in a charming venue! We had a fantastic time and look forward to more such evenings! Would have loved to get a bit of a Q & A with the storyteller Ankit Chadha and would recommend facilitating that in a more organized way next time after the show.

A minor suggestion for the venue- orders for beverages shouldn't be taken a certain time-point before the show. ex. 15 mins. It was awkward to sip on coffee right in front of the artist since the server had a bit of a delay with the order.

It is a brilliant idea and takes lot of courage to come up with something like this when the whole world is selling the run of the mill, brainless stuffs in the name of cinema.

What I liked the most- 1) The engaging background music 2) Camera work 3) The layers of the 2 main characters, especially Maya's. 4) The fact that the story made me think, which is very rare when you watch a movie these days.

What could have been better - Like few people pointed out it fell short on the technicalities-recording or the sound system. In few scenes, the music was overwhelming and took away the agony of the male lead rather than complementing his agony.

After free-hand painting apparels for more than a decade, Anu Mohit decided to make it a formal start-up, hence formed Jugniz in October 2013.

It is named after a female fictional character who hails from Punjab and keeps roaming the world as a free soul and expresses all her experiences through poetry.

What makes Jugniz exclusive even further is the calligraphy of poems written by Mohit, who being a poet, is as passionate about words as Anu is for colors.

The apparels are designed by Anu dotingly for females who love poetry and art and can exhibit their love for the same without any inhibitions.

Their goal is simple, to make painted poetry and Jugniz synonymous i.e. if its painted poetry, its probably Jugniz.

Jugniz is the end of your search if you are looking for something really exclusive, elite, elegant and exquisite at the same time.

Discover and move through the sticky parts of yourself through games, ease and Joy.

We all have some tendencies wed rather not look at and acknowledge. Wed rather shun them away, dislike them but when are playing games or often in the game called Life those are the things were least conscious about. We have a hard time learning and moving through Life at times. And what lies unconscious within us comes to the forefront sooner or later and affects our lives and directs our paths in not so desirable ways.

When were playing were excited, engrossed without a sense of limitation. Learning is simple when were having fun and whats more, when there is such a non-agenda environment we relax, open up and are even willing to admit our mistakes / look at things that maybe holding us back in a very natural way. Research shows that most of us learn best about ourselves in effortless ways in life, in a casual conversation with a friend, while watching something fun etc

Through using the reflective lens of interesting and invigorating games we recreate such a space and look into ourselves and have a conversation around it. Hopefully, thatll enable easy and joyful sharing about some of these things that we dont like inside ourselves and move through our stuck-ness.

So lets play! And Learn!

Everyone craves to paint something in their life. If you are still thinking of that dream, this is your chance to get at it. The event in itself will give you the satisfaction of completing your own artwork in a short duration of time. Of course, everything will be guided. Some of the techniques can be used in your future paintings as well.

Different age groups can try their luck with coloring. Just bring your enthusiasm. Children can enjoy coloring the glass with some techniques and take home their original glass painting. While others, who want to take their desire to the next level can try painting different flowers with simple brush strokes on a small canvas panel.

All the masterpieces can be framed or used as gifts for your beloved ones.

As canvases and glass paintings are in limited quantity, please book yourself now.

The Prophet and the Poet is an original play developed in Bangalore Little Theatre. It is based on the exchange of letters and articles between Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore over 25 years, with the Indian freedom struggle as the backdrop. The letters reveal how the two personalities differed significantly on many matters, including the form and content of the freedom movement. The differences widened over the years. However, they maintained genuine respect and love for each other in spite of the deep differences.

Bangalore Little Theatre was privileged to be invited to stage the opening shows of the play at the places hallowed by Gandhi and Tagore in their lifetime Sabarmati Ashram, Santiniketan (Visva Bharati) and Thakurbadi-Jorasanko (Rabindra Bharati).

There have been 75 performances of the play since its opening all over India and abroad. The play has had productions outside India as well. In 2014 Prasar Bharati commissioned a tele-film of the play. The film was telecast over the Independence Day week-end and on Gandhi Jayanti.

Are cats your weakness?? We bring cat adoption drive on July 2nd, at the The Arts Village
The Bangalore Cat Adoption Drive
About the Bangalore Cat Squad

The Cat squad is a volunteer group of rescuers from across the city of Bangalore coming together to rehabilitate, rehome , rescue and foster injured, abandoned, homeless cats and kittens. We started off as a whatsapp group and a facebook page over 2 years ago and today have evolved into a movement of sorts - encouraging neutering , vaccination and proper care of companion cats.

All of us , started out as dog rescuers and we adapted our expertise. Today, we work to train others in the correct way to care for helpless cats.

What we do

Rescue - We get called in when cats /kittens are in danger, injured etc. and work with other rescue groups to secure them

Foster - We extensively foster cats and kittens with the aim of improving their health and readying them for adoption or release.

Rehoming- we screen potential adopters, educate them, help with information about cat proofing etc and find long term homes.

Rehabilitating - We help injured / abandoned animals recover and release them back into their community ( community cats )

Neutering - We encourage spaying and neutering of cats ( to keep populations down) and run regular camps

Humane education program - During our camps ,we run engaging art and craft activities to teach children about cat care.

Why we need help

Every month our small group of volunteers ( 15) gets over 50 rescue calls with animals in critical condition. Healthy kittens take up time and energy and we are unable to focus on looking after animals in dire need. The adoption camps are a chance to help us find great homes and spread the word about our work.

How do we finance our operation

We are a volunteer group and spend our limited resources on vet bills etc. We do not fundraise, but tie up with registered animal shelters who want to sell their merchandise etc. They in turn allot us shelter space ( As required ) and other in kind support.

In general, our operations are run on a shoe string budget and with great difficulty. But we still manage to rescue and rehome 100's of cats.

About The Sound Of Poetry -

The Sound Of Poetry is a poetry project with a difference. It was initially conceptualized in 2015 to experiment with the coming together of music and poetry. Monthly shows in Pune saw great crowds, superb participants and high levels of excitement. Since then, the project has evolved to accommodate more formats and art forms. Currently, the project is present in Bangalore where poetry sessions and workshops are conducted. The project is also involved in using poetry as a tool to create social awareness, to further the cause of Indian English poetry in the country and to spontaneously indulge in general tomfoolery when nobody is looking.
