Ravindra Kalakshetra, built to commemorate the birth centenary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, has been a contribution to Kannada Theatre since 1963. The Ravindra Kalakshetra is among the most well known cultural center in the heart of the city of Bangalore. The venue has been a host to some of the oldest musical events and theatricals. The auditorium was inaugurated in 1963 by Dr.Humayun Kabir, on the occasion to commemorate the birth centenary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.
