Located in the district of Chikabellapura and conveniently close to the Bangalore city at about 60 odd Kilometers away, Nandi Hills is one of the most easiest quick getaways from the city. Used to be known as 'Anandhagiri' which means 'Hill of Happiness' and later as Nandi Hills, there are a list of stories on how the name came about. One of the reasons for the name is because, of the Yoga Nandeeshwara temple that is right on top of the hills. The Nandi Hills is also said to have been the fort-hill of Tipu Sultan. The views from the hills, of the surrounding hills and small towns in true bliss. One more reason is that the hill resembles a sleeping bull (Nandi).
The beautiful climb up the hill is one of the best things to do for on a relaxed weekend morning. Giving the city traffic a quick break, you will find people taking time off to a short drive up the hills. There are also stays at Nandi Hills that provide with great stay experience.
